Manitoba shares PlayNow with British Columbia.
The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation partners with BCLC on PlayNow, giving Manitobans the same regulated online sportsbook as BC residents. Kahnawake operators serve Manitoba alongside it.
Who regulates online betting in Manitoba
Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation (MBLL), operating PlayNow under agreement with the BC Lottery Corporation.
The current situation
PlayNow in Manitoba is the same technical product as PlayNow in BC, jointly operated by BCLC and MBLL. Interac supported, CAD wallets, sports and casino both available, and profits fund Manitoba public services.
Manitoba has not opened a private-operator market and there is no active legislation to do so. The province was one of the first provinces after Ontario to publicly evaluate a competitive market, but no bill has moved forward as of August 2026.
Kahnawake-licensed operators like Sports Interaction and Spin Sports take Manitoba bets. Offshore books do the same. The legal framework for these is identical to BC and other non-Ontario provinces.
Books available in Manitoba
Tiered by regulatory strength. Fully regulated first, then Kahnawake, then offshore.
What to watch for in Manitoba
- PlayNow's Manitoba sports menu is identical to BC's. Pricing is conservative.
- MBLL has publicly considered a private-operator market and is monitoring Alberta's iGaming launch closely.
- Manitoba has one of the fewer number of retail sportsbook locations of any province, so online is the primary channel for most bettors.
