Practical tools that work

  • Set a deposit limit before you bet. Every AGCO-licensed operator lets you set a daily, weekly, or monthly deposit cap during signup. Set it low enough that a bad week does not hurt your life.
  • Use a time-out if you are chasing. A 24-hour or 7-day cool-off from your operator's account settings gives your brain a break.
  • Self-exclude if you need to. Ontario operates a centralised self-exclusion register through iGaming Ontario. Other provinces run their own. Self-exclusion is permanent, or as permanent as you want it to be, and it applies to every licensed operator at once.
  • Talk to someone. The Responsible Gambling Council (responsiblegambling.org) has free, confidential counselling and no financial or referral relationships with any operator.

Warning signs

If you find yourself betting money you cannot afford to lose, lying to people close to you about how much you gamble, chasing losses with bigger bets, or feeling low or anxious when you cannot bet, it is time to stop and get help. This is not a moral failing. It is a common, treatable pattern.
